C-Lab, Samsung's in-house incubator, recently launched an augmented reality app called 'Relúmĭno' that will assist those with vision impairments.
The app for the most newly released Galaxy phones is powered by the Gear VR app and uses the rear-facing camera. With the app, users are able to see images that are adjusted to the specifics of one's visual impairment. Blind spots, tunnel vision and partial vision can all be adjusted within the app, helping one to experience a more clear view of the world around them. Brightness, contrast and zoom controls are also offered within the app.
As it stands, Relúmĭno has just been introduced as an app, but plans are in the works to develop a dedicated pair of goggles for this vision-improving system.
