Latke Recipe Bots

Quartzy's 'everylatke' Twitter Bot Shares Formulaic Potato Fritter Recipes

Quartzy recently crafted the 'everylatke' Twitter recipe bot for the purposes of helping consumers to discover new latke recipes during Hanukkah.

The media outlet created a basic formula for latkes, describing that "at minimum, all you need is something to base your latkes around, some glue to hold it all together, and a fat to fry it in. After that, the sky’s the limit." Based on this premise, everylatke shares a new recipe every hour that offers creative new ideas on how to assemble different ingredient combinations. This is particularly noteworthy because the bot suggests a number of substitutions that can be made for those who prefer vegan or non-dairy alternatives.

Like the everylatke bot, a number of robots are being turned into recipe creators, as they do not have the same biases when it comes to suggesting new and unusual food pairings.
