The 'Razer Blade 15' Has a Keyboard with Deeper Key Travel
Daniel Johnson — October 17, 2019 — Tech
The new Razer Blade 15 features a keyboard that has a deeper travel. The company recently released the new version of the laptop, which was created to improve on previous designs. Notably, the new keyboard features mechanical switches that travel 50% further than the previous model, resulting in a total travel distance of 1.7mm. The company has announced that the laptop will be released in 2020, with a number of different versions will be available -- one of which will have a $2,649 price point.
The new Razer Blade 15 is a gaming-focused laptop, and longer keyboard travel is not commonly implemented in gaming laptops. However, Razer has addressed this issue in a number of different ways. The first is that the keyboard has a 1mm actuation point, which means that when a key is pressed halfway it is recognized. Also, optical switches are used in each key which results in more accurate key readings.
