Probiotic Kefir Soft-Serve

Lifeway Brings Real Kefir to Soft-Serve Machines

Lifeway Foods is expanding probiotic kefir soft-serve through restaurant and frozen yogurt partnerships, bringing its cultured dairy product to existing commercial machines. Unlike conventional powdered frozen yogurt mixes, the offering uses real kefir, providing a creamy dessert with a naturally tart flavor and nutritional benefits associated with fermented dairy.

The product contains bioavailable protein and 50 billion colony-forming units (CFUs), a measurement of live microorganisms. Already appearing at establishments including Drugstore, Mikono, and Culture Club, Lifeway's frozen kefir is reaching customers in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and additional markets. The expansion follows the company's earlier frozen kefir shops, which closed in 2021.

For foodservice operators, the product offers an opportunity to diversify dessert menus without introducing a separate serving format. Lifeway can also extend its distribution through established restaurants while reaching consumers interested in protein-focused and probiotic-containing treats.
