Oakley is looking to get rid of clunky lens swapping with with its new Prizm React ski and snowboard goggles. These amazing pieces of tech allow users to easily change the tint of the goggles with the press of a button. The tint-changing tech comes from the use of electrochromic lenses, which allow the users to choose between three levels of tint. The transition between tints takes about seven seconds to complete and the settings vary from light to medium and dark.
The technology behind the Prizm React goggles works by sending small electric currents through the lenses themselves. The electricity is what allows the lens to change tint and is provided by a rechargeable battery that is stored inside the frame of the goggle itself. The tint-changing control is done via two buttons on the sides of the goggles, making shifts from light to dark quite easy. The battery housed in the goggle should last about a month before requiring a recharge.
