Founded by Joy Kennedy, the young designer was moved while on a trip to Kolkata by the abundance of local businesses that were helping to rehabilitate woman who were once victims of various sex crimes including kidnap and rape. Priya is a woman's accessories brand made by women who have been rescued from a life of forced prostitution. The company's partner facilities provide safe working environments, provide new business skills and even healthcare.
According to the company's website, "Priya believes in giving women back their dignity to break the cycle of exploitation and provide the hope of a new life."
