After a summer where beer sales are absolutely fizzling in Japan, Suntory Holdings is one brewery that will be releasing its biggest collection ever of Strong Zero, a line of canned pre-mixed cocktails that are taxed at a lower rate than beer. The canned cocktails feature fruity flavors like citrus and mango infusions that are not only refreshing, but also appealing to a market of thirsty 20-year-olds on a budget.
Instead of attempting to develop a more affordable beer beverage, these ready-to-drink cocktails offer a little more sophisticated drink for summer in an entirely different category of alcohol. This summer, Suntory has plans to release a total of 23 canned cocktails between June and August, which is a significant increase from the 17 canned pre-mixed cocktail drinks that were rolled out last year.
