Relaunching for e-Readers

Popular Science Rolls Out 'The Pop Sci Genius Guide'

Many print magazines haven’t had a lot of success migrating to the online market, but Popular Science is looking toward handheld e-Reading devices as a way to increase digital readers and revenue.

In response to a puny 707 digital subscribers to its online mag, Popular Science is ready to launch a new digital magazine dubbed, “The Pop Sci Genius Guide,” which it hopes will be positioned to take advantage of what they think will eventually be a significant market: e-readers!

One reason Pop Sci execs think the Genius Guide has an excellent chance to succeed is because it’s the first consumer magazine to embrace the latest version of the Zinio digital publishing platform, which empowers publishers to digitally embed multi- and interactive media like hyperlinks, video and animation.

Popular Science will experiment with price points between 99 cents to $4.99 an issue to begin with.
