For its Spring/Summer 2019 collection, Seoul-based label IISE launches a contemporary statement with an emphasis on political fashion. Designers Terrence and Kevin Kim drew inspiration from the current state of affairs in Korea as they live in an area that "is a hotbed for political protest and calls for an increased police presence." The creatives take these motifs and infuse it into IISE's offerings for Spring/Summer 2019.
The silhouettes are undoubtedly utilitarian, boasting a strong sense of privacy. Certain elements in the overall political fashion line-up evoke themes of surveillance. A strong component of it is the embrace of an aesthetic that can be traced to the gear of riot police officers.
