HiBy Shrinks Its Flagship R2R Audio Platform Into the RS2 II

HiBy's 'RS2 II' brings the audio architecture of the brand's flagship player into a smaller, portable device for audiophiles who want high-end sound in a travel-friendly format. It pairs R2R, a resistor-based digital-to-analog design, with a fully balanced analog stage, HiByOS, and the DARWIN III platform.

A new FPGA engine with more than 35,000 logic units and 40 DSP units powers selectable filtering and native DSD playback. A 3.55-inch screen and up to 4TB of microSD storage make the compact unit easier to navigate and to load with large local libraries. The aluminum alloy edition is a standard production model priced at $439.

The October brass version, priced at $549, is capped at 500 units worldwide, turning the same hardware into a collector's item. At $439, the standard model widens access to HiBy's top audio platform in a smaller format than the brand's flagship player.
