Sony has announced that it will ramp up PlayStation 4 production in lieu of the current semi-conductor shortage. One direct effect of this shortage is the unavailability of PlayStation 5 consoles. Every single PlayStation 5 that goes for sale for MSRP is sold out within a matter of minutes, and Sony cannot make more given the current shortage. Due to this, the company has decided to produce millions more PlayStation 4s throughout 2022 in order to get more consoles in the hands of players.
