Small-Format Furniture Stores

IKEA Canada Opens a Plan and Order Point in Abbotsford, BC

IKEA Canada is expanding its retail footprint in British Columbia with a new, smaller-format location — a 'Plan and Order point' — scheduled to commence operations in Abbotsford on December 10, 2025. This model differs from a traditional large-format warehouse store by focusing primarily on consultation services and order placement rather than full-scale, immediate product availability.

The Plan and Order point will provide scheduled appointments with design staff to assist customers in planning projects such as kitchen and bedroom layouts using the company's product lines. Following these consultations, purchases made can be delivered to a customer's residence or collected from an on-site pick-up point. A limited assortment of merchandise will also be available for direct purchase.

The expansion into Abbotsford is presented as part of a broader corporate strategy to enhance accessibility and convenience for customers who reside at a significant distance from a standard IKEA store.
