A school in Cincinnati, Ohio, recently installed a pizza ATM to help students satisfy late-night cravings. One of the problems on many college campuses is that dining facilities are often closed when students are still up studying. This innovative vending machine helps to ward off hunger by ensuring that students always have a steady supply of fresh pizza.
The pizza ATM was created by a French company for Cincinnati's Xavier University. The machine can hold up to 70 pizzas at a time, each of which is prepared in advance by the school's dining hall staff. The 12-inch pizzas are then loaded into the machine and customers can use the handy touchsceen pad to select their toppings and pay. The selected pizza then moves to a convection oven, which fully cooks the pizza in just three minutes.
The pizza ATM not only demonstrates how colleges are catering to the needs of hungry students, but also reveals just how advanced vending machine technology has become.
