Wendy's recently announced the return of two piquant dishes to its menu: the Jalapeno Fresco Spicy Chicken sandwich and the Ghost Pepper Fries. With more fast food restaurants trying to up the level of heat in their dishes, the return of these ultra-spicy menu items demonstrates that Wendy's is trying to compete for customers who like their food extra hot.
The Jalapeno Fresco Spicy Chicken is a sandwich that consists of a spicy chicken breast topped with died jalapenos, ghost pepper sauce, red onion, Colby Pepper Jack cheese and a warm cheese sauce. The whole thing is then served on a jalapeno bun for extra heat. Along with the new sandwich, customers can also order the Ghost Pepper Fries, which consist of natural-cut fries topped with diced jalapenos, warm cheese sauce and an ultra-spicy ghost pepper sauce.
The return of the piquant dishes to the Wendy's menu demonstrate an ongoing demand for spicy fast food fare.
