The PinePhone 'Community Edition' Comes Preinstalled with UBports

Prosumers are often limited by the number of devices they have when it comes to smartphones that are customization-friendly, which is what brings about the PinePhone 'Community Edition.' The smartphone comes preinstalled with the UBports operating system instead of requiring users to boot it from a microSD card like the previous model.

The device is inexpensively priced at $150, and allows makers, DIYers and prosumers alike with a way to change up the smartphone to suit their needs. The smartphone allows for freedom from proprietary software in favor of an open-source alternative and will offer makers with unrestricted access to various hardware components to change the device to suit their needs.

The PinePhone 'Community Edition' smartphone is expected to start shipping in May.
