Hand-Imprinting Handles

'Pause at the Threshold' Encourages Mindfulness During Simple Actions

The front door is a place where you might leave messages for yourself and others; by having a physical effect on you, 'Pause at the Threshold' is a project that works to encourage mindful moments as you enter and exit a home.

Created by the Dear Human studio, this object appears to be a fairly standard-looking exterior door handle, complete with a closed grip and a tab that will unlatch the mechanism when pressed down. Because it's designed for use with your fingers wrapped around it and your thumb pushing the catch with the most pressure, the designers decided to emboss backwards letters onto that component. As a result of opening the door, the homeowner or visitor is left with the word "Stay" impressed into his skin for little while.
