As usual, white was a key color (or shade?) on the runways for Spring/Summer 2009. The childhood charm of the paper doll was evoked by the intersection of several different design cues.
The geometric shapes that dominated the runways are perfectly reminiscent of the delicate forms we used to cut into paper to create our masterpieces all in a row. Such looks were seen at Fendi and Roberto Cavalli.
The statement accessory also has its place here, cut in stark white forms with what seems like sharp edges for a look that was seen with Georgette. Even beautifully constructed shoes, such as those from Viktor & Rolf, will give you the appearance of a perfectly cut-out paper doll princess.
