Ora-ito Reinvents The Look of Hardwood
Leslie Chen — April 1, 2011 — Art & Design
This new line of home design from Ora-ito will play a trick on your eyes. At first glance, it may look like hardwood floor, but upon further examination you will realize it's actually a rug.
Ora-ito has designed a new line of rugs for Stepevi which resembles hardwood flooring, but is actually made of leftover scraps from carpets. The designer found his inspiration from pieces of carpet in the factory which were about to be thrown away. He didn't want them to go to waste, so he invented a creative new way to integrate them into new rugs.
Ora-ito used production waste to create his new design of rugs, reinventing the look of hardwood, which is why he calls it an “ecological & virtual design process.” Made from 100% wool, the rugs come in five different colors.
