Casio is preparing AMW-920 watches that turn the octagonal MTP-B195 into an analog-digital design while keeping the dressier look. The small screen at 6 o'clock replaces the old date window and shows time and day info below the analog hands. Both versions keep the faceted bezel and textured dial of the earlier model.
AMW-920L-1AV comes on a strap, while AMW-920D-1AV uses a steel bracelet, and both are due in December. The case is expected to stay close in size to the current watch. An expected 10-year battery and 50-meter water resistance would make the watch easier to live with between battery changes.
A digital display in the MTP-B195 case widens Casio's dress-watch lane into a hybrid one, giving buyers an alternative to its sportier AMW pieces. The AMW naming on this case also blurs the line between Casio's analog-digital family and its Standard range.
