Ultra-Efficient Engines

This New Audi Engine Uses a New Combustion Method

This new Audi engine uses a new and cutting-edge combustion method that gives it the title of most efficient two-liter gasoline engine in its class. The engine's combustion setup allows it to produce 190 horsepower while returning a hugely impressive 47 miles per gallon on the New European Drive Cycle. The engine also produces 236 pounds-feet of torque that's available from just 1,450 revs per minute.

This new engine is set to debut in the next-generation Audi A4 cars. It's an impressive piece of engineering in that the engine's intake time was lessened by reducing the crank angle while still allowing for optimal cylinder charges.

With its impressive torque and power output, this engine is perfect for vehicles looking to switch from low speeds to surge mode to fill gaps in traffic.
