With the new AirDrop for iPhone feature, users will have the ability to share photos with one another by pointing at them. The new AirDrop capabilities come as a result of the iPhone 11 having the new U1 chip, which Apple has indicated will bring, “amazing new capabilities” to devices that run iOS. One of the capabilities will be accurate directional AirDrop capabilities. Directional AirDrop capabilities would make photo sharing more precise, as users can point to who they would like the share photos with.
The U1 chips have ultra-wideband technology which will have improved location tracking features. The U1 chips are able to communicate with others of the same chips in the area. Apple did not promote its new U1 chip onstage, however it will a prominent hardware component in the iPhone 11.
