Nebula Humilis by Lola Guerrera is a photo series of colorful smoke slithering through crevices of an arid Mexico desert. Spanish photographer Guerrera captures clusters of colorful smoke pluming through the desert terrain with chromatic juxtaposition of the dry and desolate land. She implements this photo collection with a deep meaning, attempting to portray the issue of boundless exploitation of natural resources that resulted in societal materialism needs.
This forsaken area was once a sacred space for the Mexican people and Guerrera conducted these photos in an effort to lend a voice to the landscape. Guerrera creates these hovering smoke plumes for viewers to conceptualize and bridge the gap between human beings and their relationship to the land. Check out Nebula Humilis by Lola Guerrera to see the drastic contrast of man-made substance coincide with mother nature.
