The DUNE design falls somewhere between a chaise and a rug, and it is collaboratively designed by German design firm BUDDE and Cologne-based firm Nando Studio. It debuted at Milan Design Week as it reimagined the traditional rug into a functioning chaise lounge.
Users can recline and relax on the tactile design as it is made from the flowing landscapes of desert culture. Designer Johannes Budde explains, “The pattern mimics the flowing dunes of a desert landscape, with a warm, shifting color palette that reflects the subtle changes in sunlight along the sand dunes." What results is a visual pattern that has been translated into the form of a tufted merino wool, which is dynamic in texture.
