With rumors of a new Microsoft phone and then the accidental launch of a website introducing Microsoft’s plans for a cloud-based mobile synchronization service, Microsoft has been at the forefront of mobile news for weeks, and now it seems they’re at it again.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Microsoft plans to open a mobile application store of its own for smartphones that run on Microsoft's Windows Mobile system to echo similar app stores from Apple, Blackberry, Google Android, and Palm.
A mobile application store would certainly give Microsoft a foothold and help establish the company in the mobile battlefield.
