Mobile App-Enabled Computers

Windows 11 Will Begin Supporting Android Apps Next Month

Microsoft has announced yet another update to Windows 11, and this time the update features the ability to run Android apps on PC as well as various visual redesigns. Many of Windows 11's recent updates were thematic in nature, such as a Task Manager or volume bar redesign to suit the new operating system's aesthetic. The ability to run Android apps, though, is something that was previously only supported through third-party software and the use of emulation.

The ability to run mobile applications on PC was originally tested in October of 2021 for a specific set of Windows Insiders, and this feature enabled these users to download apps off of the Amazon Appstore. Whether this feature will allow integrating Android's main appstore, Google Play, has yet to be seen, but will likely be released based on the success of the public beta next month.
