'Microlino,' the Italy-based automotive manufacturer, confirmed the production and release of its Microlino 2.0 vehicle. The company stresses that this EV is technically not a car, and is in fact a quadricycle, or a four-wheeled e-bike with a seating cabin. This distinction comes from the regulations surrounding the legal classification of vehicles in Europe, as the vehicle does not fit into electric vehicle standards.
The Microlino 2.0 is being manufactured at a dedicated facility in Switzerland where it will see an initial release of 999 individually numbered models that were sold in a preorder earlier this year. The vehicle starts at $14,947 USD, which is ultra-affordable for the electric vehicle space. As a result of this pricing combined with the impressive 143-mile range, the Microlino 2.0 has already been preordered more than 30,000 times.
