Creative Frustration Portraits

The Memorial Photo Series Provides Comfort for Artists

The Memorial photo series is inspired by the frustration creatives can feel when making a work of art. Oftentimes, the vision that resides in their heads isn't translated perfectly in real life, nor does real life always cooperate even when it appears that it should. This abstract and artistic portrait project addresses these facts while providing an optimistic outlook. Essentially, the Memorial photo series illustrates that in the end, everything will be ok.

Put together by Thomas Brown in collaboration with Sarah May, the Memorial photo series blends traditional motifs such as flowers and candles with unorthodox ones including bubblegum and balloons. Through these odd pairings, the project provides “an expression of hope, celebration and beauty," according to the artists.
