Photographer Garry Owens Creates a Twisted Imaginary World

This phenomenal collection of masked heroes and villains was shot by Australian photographer Garry Owens. The collection features unexpected villains masked behind friendly animal faces, caped crusaders struck by age, clown robbers and many other masked vigilantes. Every shot has a fair share of humor and irony complemented with a gentle touch of horror. Doctor No-No's white coat and the shiny bloody blade is particularly terrifying.

The contrast between the new young and powerful villains with the classic, but challenged, superheroes is astonishing and somewhat saddening -- what will happen when Batman and Spiderman retire? Will all the evil nurses and doctors be set free, will your neighbors children plot a murder of Fluffy...

The beauty of these Garry Owens images is not only in the images themselves but in the story behind them and in where the story could lead.
