You are not imagining this brilliantly puzzling self-portrait series by the talented Mariko Sakaguchi. In the series, Sakaguchi places herself in a miniscule bath bucket in the strangest of scenarios, from a hospital bedroom to a restaurant seating area, a conference room and even a family living room. Totally nude, yet hidden in the depths of the basket which houses her, the series explores spatial relationships and the societal norms that surround this concept.
Photographed in her native Japan, the series is one of many unconventional projects for which Mariko Sakaguchi is recognized. Her works are currently on display in three known exhibitions around both Japan and Korea. In addition to photography, her artistic talents extend to the worlds of both film and stage work.
