F1 Metro Railway Stunts

Oracle Red Bull Racing Ran Its RB8 on the Madrid Metro

Oracle Red Bull Racing ran its double-title-winning 'RB8' Formula One car on the tracks of the Madrid Metro, marking the return of the Spanish Grand Prix to Madrid after a 45-year absence. The stunt required custom-engineered metal wheels weighing 29.8 kg, roughly double the weight of a standard F1 wheel, built at the team's Canillejas workshops in collaboration with Spanish engineering collective Andtonic.

Former F1 driver Patrick Friesacher piloted the RB8 during the stunt, passing stations such as Estadio Metropolitano before reaching the Sacedal and Chamartín depots.

The project is part of a larger partnership between Red Bull and the new MadRing Circuit, which connects to Madrid's metro system to bring race fans underground for the first Grand Prix in the city since 1981.
