Long-Reach Phone Microscopes

iMicro XL15 Adds Working Space To Smartphone Microscopy For 3D Sample

iMicro built the XL15 pocket lens to move smartphone microscopy away from extreme zoom, giving phone and tablet users room to inspect insects, circuit boards, and other uneven subjects. Its 21-mm working clearance keeps the camera farther from the sample, so live or three-dimensional objects stay easier to frame.

A reusable nano-suction pad mounts the lens over a device camera without a dedicated case, and a detachable light can be aimed for side lighting or UV. On Kickstarter, Super Early Bird pledges start at CAD 84, or about US$60. The campaign runs through December 19, with shipping estimated from April 2027.

At about US$60, the XL15 widens smartphone microscopy from flat-surface novelty into a practical inspection tool. The extra room to work makes a phone more useful for tinkering and field observation without moving into full lab equipment.
