Loe Lee Inspires Hope Through Her Whimsical Monsters

Loe Lee is the artist behind New York City's friendly monsters. The grinning and pastel-colored creatures are part of Loe Lee's contribution to the Chinese-American illustrator's 'Creatures of Hope' series. Loe Lee's furry and feathered whimsical figures are showcased by overlaying photographs of New York City with Lee's monster illustrations.

Born out of the COVID-19 hardships over the past year, Loe Lee's 'Creatures of Hope' series highlights the city's resilience and brightens up quotidian landscapes. As a native New Yorker, Loe Lee is heartbroken to see such loss and confusion in the city during the pandemic and hopes to bring joy back to the streets.

Loe Lee's 'Creatures of Hope' was named runner-up in 'Creative Quarterly 62'. More of Loe Lee's artwork is set to appear as murals in NYC's Chinatown.
