Deeper Legal Workflows

Stripe Has Acquired Legal Infrastructure Provider Clerky

Stripe acquired Clerky, a legal infrastructure provider for startups, expanding its reach beyond payments with document workflows and an attorney workspace designed for incorporation and post-formation operations. The deal adds Clerky’s tooling for SAFEs, convertible notes, equity issuances, board actions, hiring documentation and ongoing corporate maintenance to Stripe’s broader startup ecosystem.

Clerky was founded in 2011 to streamline startup legal paperwork while embedding legal expertise into its products. Under Stripe’s ownership, Clerky plans to continue serving startups, attorneys and paralegals. The acquisition also complements Stripe Atlas, which already supports company formation, founder equity, EIN applications and early fundraising documentation.

For founders, the deal could create a more connected path from incorporation and legal administration to fundraising, banking and payments. It also reflects Stripe’s broader move toward becoming an operating infrastructure layer for startups throughout more stages of company growth.
