Heritage Narrative-Themed Fashion

Labrum Tells an Intricate Tale Through its SS21 Collection

Labrum unveils its latest seasonal collection -- this time, it launches for the Spring/Summer 2021 season. It tells a narrative through fashion, embodying a strong sense of heritage and symbolism through fashion silhouettes. The Cotton Tree, which is more recognizable as the kapok tree is a historic symbol of Freetown, the capital city of Sierra Leone.

According to ancient legend, the tree gained importance in 1792 as a group of former African American slaves fought for the British during the American War in order to gain their freedom and settle in Freetown. When landing to shore, they walked up to a giant tree to hold a Thanksgiving service. This season, the brand honors the Cotton Tree with traditional tailoring and silhouettes that reference West African formalwear and British army apparel.
