The Socially Aware Blog has presented the 'Key Moments in Social Media Law' infographic that breaks down important decisions in copyright and privacy disputes involving digital media from 1984 to the present. The infographic begins in 1984 when Sony won an important technology law case involving video recording devices that has had a large impact on the digital, and progresses through to November 2011, when Facebook settled its dispute with the FTC regarding privacy settings.
In light of the recent SOPA and PIPA protests, this list of 'Key Moments in Social Media Law' is an interesting history lesson as the issue of copyright, online privacy and intellectual property rights continues to play a larger role in the everyday lives of consumers.
