Chris Kabel Creates Key Fobs from Objects Found on Fogo Island

These key fobs are part of an art project created by Dutch designer Chris Kabel in collaboration with the Fogo Island Inn. They are created from objects found around Fogo island that were either washed-up on shore, buried in the sand or found in the forest. However, Kabel only selected items that were cast in bronze.

The collection of key fobs is complete with 29 bronze objects and are used to house the keys that belong to rooms in the island hotel. Kabel says that “each object tells a small or large story that relates to the island” and that “they become the chapters of a book about the present and past daily life on the island and its rough nature.”

The key fobs feature everything from a cod head to an iron nail.
