Even if the John Varvatos Fall/Winter 2014 collection hadn’t ended by bringing out the members from KISS, the inspiration taken from the rock band was clear. One of the giveaways to this is the painted faces of the models that walked the latest John Varvatos show during Milan Fashion Week. The makeup on the men ranged from a simple black star covering one eye to a full on white face painted with designs nearly identical to those of the 80s rock band.
The collection itself exudes a sophisticated toughness with its sleek use of leather, metallic textures and fabrics with a bit of sheen, which perfectly captures the vibrance of light at a rock concert. Some of the tall hats that are used to accessorize the collection even seem to pay tribute to a similar style commonly worn by guitar legend Slash of Guns N’ Roses.
