Pop Star-Inspired Iconic Dolls

Mattel Recently Released a Stylish Jennifer Lopez Barbie Doll

If you’ve ever wanted a little piece of JLO to keep with you forever and always, your time of yearning has finally come to a cease. Mattel recently released a Jennifer Lopez Barbie doll completely modeled after the sassy Latina hit maker.

These brilliant Barbie dolls come in two JLO-esque collectible forms. The first doll wears the stunning gown Jennifer wore to the 2012 Oscars and the second doll wears the notoriously sexy sequined bodysuit from her ‘Dance Again’ tour. Mattel took intense care of detail and got everything from her bun down to lace-up heels on point.

Although the Jennifer Lopez Barbie doll brought on a heap of excitement and thrill, it also brought on some constructive criticism. The doll may have the look of the ‘Selena’ star and her stunning attire but it definitely does not have her bodacious body. Lopez’s crazy curves are pretty much missing. However, Mattel did say they made the doll “slightly curvier than the original.” So less is more when the prior option was less than less, right?

Detailed Collectible Dolls
The meticulous attention to detail in recreating Jennifer Lopez's iconic outfits for the Barbie doll suggests a trend towards highly detailed, collectible dolls that fans will want to own.
Curvy Dolls
The criticism about the Jennifer Lopez Barbie doll's less than curvy body shape shows a potential trend for the production of more dolls that accurately reflect diverse body types beyond the traditionally thin, straight Barbie doll figure.
