'JavaGPT' is a new freely-downloadable tool that enables ChatGPT to run with near-full functionality on any version of Windows. While the standard ChatGPT app requires Windows 10 or 11, JavaGPT is an app available on github that works by using Open AI's free ChatGPT API. During the setup process for JavaGPT, users must obtain a free API key from Open AI via the company's website.
After this setup process is complete, JavaGPT functions similarly to the original chatbot. It automatically saves and logs chats during use, it responds one time per prompt, and its text can be saved or exported into text files. The app can also be viewed in a number of different layouts, with some mimicking the official ChatGPT and some mimicking the design profile of older Java applications. Addiitonally, JavaGPT allows users to save their chats as a Java JSON file for compatibility with certain applications.
