ChatGPT Plus is free for college students across the U.S. and Canada through the end of May -- and it’s landing at the perfect time. As finals season kicks off, OpenAI is handing students access to its most advanced tools, including GPT-4o, image generation, voice mode, and in-depth research features, without the usual subscription cost.

This move goes beyond convenience. Students are already one of ChatGPT’s largest user groups, with millions using the platform not just for quick answers but to reshape how they learn, write, and solve complex problems. Now, more students, regardless of financial background, can tap into powerful AI support when it matters most.

To deepen the impact, OpenAI is also launching educational tools like OpenAI Academy and ChatGPT Lab, where students can learn AI fluency, swap prompts, and develop critical thinking skills.
