This is supported by the new tvOS feature of the Continuity Camera -- this way, users can sync their FaceTime calls with their TV to enhance their video calling experience.
On the company's website, the mount is shown to be fixed right onto the TV if it has a thickness of up to 40mm without the need for wires or tools. The phone's rear camera can be leveraged for calls but when it is not in use as a mount, the device can be folded up to use as a simple phone stand in either landscape or portrait mode.
