Integrated Firewall DNS Servers

Deciso Adds an Authoritative DNS Server to OPNsense 26.10

Deciso's 'OPNsense Business Edition 26.10' adds an integrated Authoritative DNS server, giving network teams a single place to manage internal DNS zones and records. The release also adds centralized management and tighter firewall controls, built for organizations that want more control without adding separate admin layers.

The update replaces the legacy 'Interface Assignments' module with a redesigned framework and moves 'Outbound NAT' to a Source NAT architecture for a more consistent firewall setup. The release adds 'TLS-Crypt v2' support for OpenVPN and Dynamic DNS support for KEA DHCP, so address changes remain linked to DNS records.

Available immediately to customers with active Business Edition subscriptions and partners worldwide, the release positions OPNsense as a broader administration layer for distributed networks. Integrated DNS and centralized control make the platform easier to standardize across sites while keeping its open-source base intact.

Unified Network Administration
Converged firewall, DNS, DHCP, and VPN controls create openings for platforms that reduce tool sprawl across distributed enterprise environments.
Integrated Authoritative DNS
Embedding authoritative DNS directly into security appliances signals demand for infrastructure that links zone management, access policy, and internal service discovery.
Open-source Security Platforms
Commercialized open-source networking stacks are reshaping how organizations balance transparency, extensibility, and enterprise-grade centralized control.

Who This Affects Most

Network Security
Firewall vendors can differentiate through deeper integration of traffic control, encrypted access, and identity-aware network services.
DNS Infrastructure
DNS management is expanding beyond standalone services as enterprises seek tighter synchronization between addressing, records, and policy enforcement.
IT Infrastructure Management
Centralized administration for distributed sites reflects a shift toward standardized infrastructure operations without additional management layers.
