Today popular social media platform Instagram announced a new feature called Instagram stories. This new option allows users to "share all the moments of your day, not just the ones you want to keep on your profile." Pictures and videos that users share as part of their story are grouped together in one continuous slideshow, just like Snapchat stories. Instagram stories also disappear after 24 hours, which also borrows an ephemeral element from Snapchat.
This feature prevents users from oversharing on their feed, but still enables them to post in a creative way, whether they are documenting the details of their everyday life or multiple snaps from an event. This move shows how social platforms are learning and borrowing from each other as well.
