'Lia' is an innovative pregnancy test that is not only flushable, but also eco-friendly. For the past 30 years, at-home pregnancy tests have changed relatively little. Now, 'Lia Diagnostics' has managed to redesign the traditional pregnancy test by making a more eco-friendly version of the product.
The Philadelphia-based start-up developed 'Lia' as part of an effort to make a pregnancy test that would take into consideration concerns about privacy and sustainability. The new tests are offered as part of a biodegradable kit, which initially appears as a credit card-sized envelope. This envelope subsequently unfolds into a flexible panty-liner made from cellulose fibers. The increased surface area of the liner makes it easier for users to urinate on the product and avoid any confusion when reading the results. Once finished, users can then flush Lia down the toilet.
The unique design of this innovative pregnancy test provides a more discrete and less wasteful option for using an at-home test.
