Indie Game 'Genderwrecked' is an Honest Depiction of Discovering Gender

Indie game Genderwrecked is an incredible visual novel that has users tackle emotion and self-identity. Set in a post-apocalyptic setting, Genderwrecked does not task players with surviving with supplies, but instead has them face the emotional journey of discovering one's own gender. Designed and developed by Heather Robertson and Ryan Rose Aceae, Genderwrecked was definitely a passion project, spurred on by the conversations on gender the two creators shared.

Genderwrecked is an incredible experience not just for trans players, but for anyone passionate about the idea of gender and identity. As Aceae explained, “I think a lot of trans-centric media — the writers, the creators — try to make the experience of being trans so straightforward, and it’s so not.” It is important to note that Genderwrecked is not an educational game, and instead focuses on the experiences of the creators. This view definitely affects the game for the better as it is something truly genuine and heartfelt.
