Instagram has created a reminder for product releases in order to make it easier for in-app consumers to be up to date on products. The reminders feature will support companies who advertise on social media about upcoming releases, companies will have the ability to create a 'reminder' sticker that corresponds with a product launch. If in-app consumers select a sticker, they will then have opted into reminders about a release. The reminders feature is currently available in the United States and it has approximately 30 companies using it, which includes adidas and Levi's.
The reminders feature was tested in a few different experiments. One of which was around a limited edition release of t-shirts, which were only available through the Instagram check out. Instagram's head of fashion, Eva Chen, spoke on the new feature, "we know from sneaker culture that people are sitting and waiting and refreshing the page over and over again until they can purchase.”
