Katie Cordrey — July 7, 2009 — Tech
Four people were arrested in connection with a plot to use a toy chopper to smuggle cell phones into a Brazilian prison. A three-foot model remote-controlled helicopter loaded with a cargo of cell phones was discovered in a vehicle near the Presidente Venceslau correctional facility in San Paolo.
The smugglers had reportedly been offered a total of $10K to deliver the cell phones to prisoners waiting inside. The attempt comes on the heels of a failed plot to use carrier pigeons to deliver the cell phones.
