Multinational furniture company IKEA recently announced that their UK stores will be selling and installing home solar panels for environmentally minded customers. IKEA UK is launching their 'Solar Shops' in three major stores.
Solar Shops became available online and in Birmingham, Glasgow and Lakeside (Thurrock) on April 25, 2016. Manchester and Southampton are scheduled to follow in May. Following this pilot, IKEA UK hope to sell solar panels at all locations by the end of the summer.
This is in line with their goal to "help people live sustainably and affordably in their homes." This news follows research that indicates 33% of British homeowners are interested in installing solar panels, with 60% stating their main reason is to reduce their electricity bills.
