Metaverse Haptic Gloves

Meta is Taking Strides Toward the Metaverse with Prototype Haptic Gloves

Meta believes that the 'Oculus Quest 2' headset is just the first step in the metaverse goal, and haptic gloves are the next one.

Today, Meta unveiled its prototype haptic feedback glove. Meta Research Labs plans on bringing this glove to public markets in the foreseeable future. The glove must be adjusted to fit perfectly on the user's hand such that each of the fifteen actuators connect with their skin. The actuators are capable of delivering multiple types of physical sensations through stiffening, loosening, and fabricating resistance.

The Meta haptic glove will be usable with the Oculus Quest 2 (Soon to be named the Meta Quest 2), and will utilize advanced tracking so that you know where each of your fingers are while you wear the headset. The glove will simulate a multitude of different sensations in VR applications, from touching wood to touching metal, creating a believable, mind-bending experience.

There is no current date on when this will be available for public purchase, but this demonstration shows us that the gloves are coming sooner rather than later.
