What was once thought to be a long-lost masterpiece by the renowned Austrian modernist painter, Gustav Klimt, has been re-discovered after emerging from a private collection more than 100 years later.
Previously thought lost since 1918, the painting is a significant addition to Klimt's iconic portraits of upper-middle-class women from the turn of the century. This particular artwork had been documented in catalogues and archives in black and white, but its vibrant colors remained unseen until it resurfaced recently.
Ahead of its auction at Vienna's im Kinsky on April 24, the Portrait of Fräulein Lieser will undergo a global tour, showcasing its artistic beauty in art hubs worldwide, including stops in Switzerland, Germany, the UK, and Hong Kong.
